The symposium will include both podium presentations and poster sessions.  All topics in human modeling will be welcomed.

Important dates

Submission deadline (one A4 page abstract): November 30, 2012

• Notification of acceptance: February 1, 2013

• Papers (4-10 pages), upon acceptance: March 30, 2013

• Conference: June 11-13, 2013

We welcome submissions on all aspects of computational human modeling and related disciplines, including (but certainly not limited to):

  • Anthropometry and 3D human body modeling
  • Human functional data (e.g. joint maximum strength, joint range of motion)
  • Musculoskeletal human models
  • Motion capture and reconstruction
  • Posture and motion simulation
  • Modeling for subjective responses (e.g., ingress/egress, seat comfort)
  • Applications and software demonstration
  • Virtual reality and DHM
  • Mental/cognitive models and integrated models
  • Older, disabled and other special populations
  • Verification and validation of DHMs
  • Model standards and protocols

Papers promoting a product without presenting new data or results are unlikely to be accepted.  Comparisons and objective evaluations of products are welcomed.

Abstracts will be peer reviewed.  Authors will be notified by February 1, 2013, if their papers have been accepted for podium or poster presentation.  All authors of accepted abstracts (whether for podium or poster presentation) will be invited to submit an expanded abstract of 5 to 10 pages for inclusion in the conference proceedings.

To foster the free exchange of knowledge, the authors will retain the copyright on their work.  The conference proceedings, including all accepted papers, will be distributed to the symposium attendees and made available on the web for two years following the conference.  Authors who do not wish their papers to be publicly available should notify the organizers prior to the conference.
